Joey Logano to drive in NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Kansas Speedway

18-year-old driving sensation makes transition from Nationwide Series to Sprint Cup

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Aug. 29, 2008) – Joey Logano, the 18-year-old NASCAR phenom, will drive the No. 96 Hall of Fame Racing Toyota in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Camping World RV 400 at Kansas Speedway on September 28.

Logano currently drives as a rookie in the NASCAR Nationwide Series No. 20 for Joe Gibbs Racing. In just 10 career starts, Logano has one win, seven top-10 finishes and two poles in the Nationwide Series.

The team announced Monday that Logano will replace Tony Stewart in the No. 20 Home Depot car for the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. Stewart is moving on to race for his own team, Stewart-Haas-Racing, in 2009. In preparation for taking over the No. 20 Home Depot car, Logano will drive in five Sprint Cup Series races before the end of the 2008 season.

Logano made history this year as the youngest driver to win a Nationwide Series race at 18 years, 21 days old. He began racing in 1996, at 6 years old, in quarter midgets. Logano acquired the nickname “Sliced Bread” when former NASCAR driver Randy Lajoie stated the youngster was “the best thing since sliced bread” earlier this season.

Tickets for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Camping World RV 400 and NASCAR Nationwide Series Kansas Lottery 300 this September 27 – 28 are on sale now by calling 866.460.RACE or logging onto www.kansasspeedway.com. O’Reilly Auto Parts Qualifying Day and Sprint Fan Walk tickets are also on sale. Parking is always free at Kansas Speedway.
