Lathrop Lady Mules Softball Team Defeats Maysville
(Posted August 29, 2008)
The Lathrop Lady Mules and Maysville Wolverines game was threatened by weather, and even delayed due to lightning, but the skies cleared and the last several innings were even played in sunshine as the Lady Mules ran their record to 2 and 0 with a 6 to 3 victory over the Wolverines.
Maysville jumped on the board early (1 to 0) in the first inning, but the Lady Mules evened the score in the bottom of the first when Elissa Wren led the game off with a single up the middle and eventually scored on a wild pitch. The Lady Mules broke the game open in the fifth with several bunts and ground ball RBI. Offensively, the Lady Mules were led by Junior Kayla Clariday (triple), Sophomore Elissa Wren, Sophomore Lacy Bishop, sophomore Janelle Saling (2 RBI) and Jamie Bullock (RBI).
Sophomore Jamie Bullock was the starting pitcher for the Lady Mules and picked up her second victory of the season (2 and 0), allowing only 2 earned runs in 7 innings and was backed up by her teammates in the field, who played very well defensively.
The Lady Mules next home game is next Tuesday, at Lathrop, when they will host the West Platte Blue Jays at 4:30 p.m.
